An identity is an open system
How a simple visual principle can hold a brand together without making every expression the same.
Ada Vale ↗A good identity makes room for change.
Ada Vale is a fictional identity designer exploring how a simple visual idea can remain recognisable as it changes. Her practice in this conference concept moves between naming, typography, and adaptable graphic systems.
The work begins with a small rule rather than a finished logo. A repeated shape, a particular proportion, or a distinctive rhythm becomes the starting point for a system that can answer different needs. Consistency comes from the relationship between elements, not from making every application identical.
This profile is an original conference concept. The speaker, practice, sessions, and project are fictional; no real professional biography or client work is implied.
The open shape is an original geometric identity study created for Assembly. A square is divided, turned, and recombined to make a family of related compositions. The result tests how much an identity can change before its character disappears.
The artwork uses a deliberately limited vocabulary. Its character comes from proportion, scale, and the relationship between elements. The same idea can become a poster, a session title, or a practical exercise without losing its point of view.
Leave with a practical way to distinguish a useful design principle from a rigid visual template.
The talks are designed to open a question, and the workshops turn that question into an exercise. Bring a notebook, a pencil, and a willingness to test a direction before deciding whether it is right. Specialist tools are not part of the premise.
A personal itinerary helps you choose where to spend your attention. Workshops run alongside some talks, so review any flagged overlaps before you export your plan. Saving a session in this demo does not reserve a seat.
