Look with someone,
not just at them.
Maya Ren
Fictional editorial image maker
This portfolio imagines a practice concerned with the relationship between a person and their surroundings. The work is interested in small gestures, useful objects, and the intervals that sit between more obvious events.
The three portraits are original generated images. They are not documentary access to real people or organizations. Their case notes discuss visual choices without inventing conversations, biographies, consent, or commissions.
Context before a frame
A real editorial process would begin with listening. The participant’s description of their work could change the location, the time of day, or whether a camera belongs there at all. A strong portrait does not need to exaggerate a story that has not been told.
One useful page of preparation
The list below helps a reader gather considerations for an imagined portrait assignment. It does not request a booking, collect personal details, or contact a photographer.
