Oren TypeIndependent graphic practice

Selected work / 2024—2026

A practice of placing things.

Oren Type is a fictional independent graphic practice created for this portfolio. Its interests are ordinary: how a title meets a page, how a book opens, how a sign can welcome someone without raising its voice.

The work moves between printed matter, identity and typography. A consistent concern is whether a visual device has a reason to exist beyond making the image recognizable. A rule on a cover might become a reading aid inside. An interval in a title might become the place where information lives.

Working notes

  • Start with the words. Their length, sound and shape often suggest the structure.
  • Make a system that survives ordinary tools and another person's decisions.
  • Read at the scale of use. A beautiful thumbnail is not evidence of a useful poster.
  • Keep a record of what did not work, without pretending every detour was inevitable.

About this archive

All four projects are original self-initiated studies. The names, programme details and publications are fictional. The artwork is original vector composition, made for this collection. No external client work is reproduced.

The live specimen uses Geist to demonstrate spacing. It is not a newly designed typeface, and downloading the note does not download a font. The included font license governs the packaged font file.
