stackline

A clear contract.

This documentation describes the Stackline concept and its browser-local playground. It is a complete example flow, not a production SDK or remote deployment service.

Start with the playground to see the request context, four stages, cancellation, failure, and success response.

Request shape

The conceptual request identifies a project, environment, and branch. Project names use 3–32 lowercase letters, numbers, or hyphens and begin with a letter. The playground offers Preview and Staging; both are local labels.

// Concept request. This endpoint is illustrative.
const response = await fetch(
  'https://api.stackline.example/previews',
  {
    method: 'POST',
    headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json' },
    body: JSON.stringify({
      project: 'fieldnotes',
      environment: 'preview',
      branch: 'feature/new-direction'
    })
  }
);

const preview = await response.json();

The .example host is reserved for illustration. Copying the snippet does not install a package or create a service. The playground uses native JavaScript to demonstrate the result without executing this request.

Four stages. Explicit states.

StagePurpose
Read the sourceResolve the selected project and environment.
Build the previewAssemble the illustrative application bundle.
Run the checksEvaluate the selected simulation outcome.
Prepare the handoffCreate an example address and response.

Each stage moves from Waiting to Running, then Complete. A selected failed-check scenario stops at Run the checks. A cancellation stops the active stage and leaves later stages waiting. The controls become available again after every terminal outcome.

Make recovery understandable.

Choose Failed checks to see a sample missing-build-output error. The error appears beside the stage and in the log. Change the outcome to Success and run again to reset all stages and explore a successful result.

Cancel run aborts the active local wait. It cannot leave a remote deployment running, because no network operation exists. A cancelled run does not produce a ready result. Starting a new run clears the old log and result.

Transparent usage assumptions.

The sample monthly calculator includes a $15 base,200 builds, and 10 GB of transfer. Extra builds are 1.5 cents each; extra transfer is 10 cents per GB. These are illustrative USD values before taxes. Move the controls on the pricing page to see every line item.
