I’m Eli, a designer interested in the point where a clear idea becomes something you can see, hold, or change.
This small folio moves between visual identity, publication, and digital experiments. The projects share an interest in understandable systems: a few parts, a visible rule, and enough room for the content to remain itself.
Eli Mercer is a fictional identity. The work below was created specifically for this portfolio. It is presented as a set of open studies, without invented clients, launches, or professional affiliations.
Selected studies
Signal, without noise ↗Visual identity / 2026A small identity study for an imagined listening room. One ring, one line, and a word that can hold its place.
An open index ↗Publication / 2025A publication cover that makes room for a changing subject, with a stable relationship between title and index.
Field lines ↗Digital experiment / 2026A small drawing instrument that turns a single density value into a field of curved lines.
A way of working
I like an experiment that is small enough to explain. A color choice should visibly change a color. A title field should change a title. A drawing control should reveal the rule it affects. These are modest interactions, but they make the work available to a reader rather than asking them to accept a polished image at face value.
The studies can be explored entirely in this browser. They do not submit a brief, collect personal details, or call an external service.
