Start with the question.
Each study has a research question, a fictional participant perspective, and three original written passages. The researcher’s question stays beside each response so a quote does not lose the situation that gave it meaning.
These interviews are synthetic examples for learning the workflow. They do not represent real customer needs, measured prevalence, or validated product findings. Use them to practice a method, not to make claims about an actual population.
Choose a passage, not a conclusion.
The Highlight passage button saves that complete response to your notebook and marks it in the transcript. It does not select arbitrary text or infer what is important. You make the choice. Selecting it again removes the highlight.
Removing a highlight does not erase the original passage or remove citations from an existing insight. The source remains in the study, and saved interpretations keep the evidence that was attached when they were written.
Give the highlight a useful lens.
A new highlight starts as Uncoded. After highlighting, choose one of four themes. These are simple organizing labels, not classifications generated by a model. You can change them as your interpretation develops.
- Clarity: understanding what something means or what to do next.
- Confidence: knowing enough to act, trust, or verify a decision.
- Collaboration: sharing context, ownership, and work with others.
- Friction: a moment of hesitation, extra work, or uncertainty.
A theme is a reading aid. Its presence does not establish how common or severe an issue is.
Keep evidence and interpretation distinct.
An insight has a title, your written interpretation, and at least one source passage. The notebook will not save an unsupported note. A useful interpretation explains a possible relationship and acknowledges what the small sample cannot tell you.
Possible interpretation: a concrete example may help this participant understand the intended outcome before following setup instructions.
Open question: would other new users benefit in the same way?
The site does not generate insights, analyze sentiment, rank themes, or verify conclusions. It keeps your manual reasoning connected to source material so you can revisit it.
Keep the work portable.
Highlights, theme assignments, and insight notes are stored in this browser’s local storage. They survive reloads when storage is available, but do not sync across devices. No external account or analysis service is connected.
Prepare export builds a Markdown document containing your highlighted quotes, themes, interpretations, and source references. Review it in the page, copy it, or download it. If clipboard access is blocked, the text remains available for manual copying.
All source interviews are fictional. Your own insight writing is local to this browser until you choose to export it. The demo sends no messages, uploads, or research data to another service.
