Good search
gets out of
your way.
Start with a word. Narrow the field.
Understand why the result is there.
Matching records
A useful answer needs
a little more context.
The words someone types. The fields you search.
The rules that decide what comes first.
Match the words that matter.
Search titles, summaries, and full record text. Exact words or explicit prefixes, with no hidden semantic claims.
Try the matching rulesNarrow without starting over.
Combine the query with type and topic facets. Every control works on the same result set.
Refine a searchKeep ranking explainable.
Change field weights, add explicit synonyms, and inspect the points behind each result.
Tune the experienceNot every word
means just
one thing.
People say “find.” Your document says “search.” An explicit synonym group can connect the two without pretending to understand everything.
Open the tuning deskOne query group.
Three matching alternatives.
Just a rule you can read and change.
Designing useful
empty states
An empty state is a moment of orientation. Explain what belongs in the space and what someone can do next.
FULL RECORD, NOT A DEAD PREVIEWRead the sourceA result should
lead somewhere.
Every match opens a complete original record. The index workspace lets you inspect the schema and export the dataset used by the demo.

These queries open the same local engine you can tune. The results are calculated, not staged screenshots.
Clear about
what it does.
Is this a real hosted search engine?
No. Seek searches ten fictional records in your browser. It creates no external index and sends no query to a provider.
Does it understand meaning or fix typos?
No. It normalizes words, matches exact words or enabled prefixes, and expands explicitly configured synonym groups.
What does a score mean?
A weighted count of matching query groups across title, summary, and body, plus an optional topic preference. It is not confidence or probability.
Can I change and keep the rules?
Yes. Save validated settings locally or export their JSON. Invalid synonym groups and out-of-range weights are rejected with a clear explanation.
